MY APPROACH

The focus of my work is to help you improve your mood and close relationships while also developing your comfort with a healthy, full range of emotions.  At times all of us experience overwhelmingly painful feelings or difficulty coping with stressful life events.  I use a relational approach to collaboratively explore with clients ways we learn early in our lives to cope with uncomfortable emotions that often contribute to current problems.  I specialize in working with people struggling in their close relationships and those committed to improving their understanding of their feelings and themselves.  My ultimate hope and goal is to help you to increase your capacity to respond to future challenges with more resilience, insight, and self compassion.

People who tend to benefit the most from working with me in therapy often feel overwhelmed due to grief, loss, or trauma or have difficulty maintaining healthy, loving connections.  I particularly enjoy helping clients looking to improve the quality of their close relationships and those interested in deepening their comfort with emotions.  I also work quite a bit with individuals seeking ongoing personal growth and exploring how to live their most fulfilling and meaningful lives possible.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I offer weekly (or more frequent) 50 minute counseling sessions to individual clients to address concerns including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Relationship and Family Issues

  • Anxiety and Depressed Mood

  • Trauma / PTSD

  • Loneliness and Isolation

  • Self Esteem and Self Confidence

  • Family of Origin Concerns

  • Grief and Bereavement

  • Guilt and Shame

  • Terminal and Chronic Illness

  • Life Transitions / Feeling "Stuck"

COUPLES THERAPY

Healthy romantic relationships have the potential to not only provide joy and happiness, but also a sense of safety and stability in the midst of life's challenges.  Unfortunately problems in close intimate relationships can also lead to painful experiences of rejection, disconnection, and loneliness.  My work with couples is attachment based and draws from both Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT).  I have also completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am invested in helping couples to develop their ability to form deep and meaningful connections.
